NEW WORK BY NAYA BRICHER

August 19th - 25th, 2022

Four Eleven Gallery announces Comfort Objects: New Paintings By Naya Bricher. The show features baby animals, vintage fashions and sweet treats among dreamy poolscapes. These new paintings savor the cheerful delights of Bricher’s social media feeds and web searches. Of the work, Bricher says, "I guide my silly screenshots and digital collages from the screen to the canvas. I feel satisfaction when the images take up tangible space outside of the digital realm. Like a soothing comfort object, these paintings remind me of the power in pleasure, joy and rest.”

Bricher’s paintings honor the effervescence of living an object-filled life within a content-rich world. She revels in whimsicality and is intrigued by nonessential indulgences, such as desserts, pool toys and novelty pets. Her attraction to intense color, combined imagery and cumulative narrative shape her artworks. Culled from social media, cartoons, and dreams her paintings combine cultural references into a personal form of celebration. Naya Bricher is an artist based year-round in Provincetown, MA. She studied at Smith College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with highest honors in studio art. In 2013, she was a resident at the Vermont Studio Center. In 2014, she joined the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown as staff-in-residence.
