BRIGID WATSON: DIFFICULT LOVES
AUGUST 14th - SEPTEMBER 7th, 2015
The final solo exhibition of 2015 at Four Eleven, featuring artist Brigid Watson, is a love story. Named after a book by Italo Calvino, Difficult Loves echoes many themes common in relationships. Each new painting hinges on a romantic concept, such as fate or perception, which it emulates in both form and feeling. Inspired by outside sources as well as her own rekindles relationship, Watson imbues emotions as well as philosophies into abstract paintings that maintain horizons and focal points. Her characteristically dynamic impasto technique and liberal use of both paint and palette knife return in Difficult Loves, which is the result of more artistic revision and originality than ever before.
