Breaking Open, Giving Way
June 8th - June 28th, 2018

Liz Carney and the associates at Four Eleven present a group show inspired by the theme of breaking, the process of division and what raw treasures are exposed in the wake of physical, psychological, and cultural divergences. Laura Shabott’s large-scale works on paper, created in recent residency at the Fine Art Works Center, anchor the season opener. Her fierce commitment to art colony tradition, bold gesture, and all that conviction in mark-making reveals are refreshing and at the same time, distinctly Provincetown. Paintings by Janine Evers, Helen Grimm, Peter Hocking, Paul Rizzo, Julie Smith, and more dialogue around ideas of visual and metaphorical breaking and the powerful truths lying at vulnerable cores.
